Common Questions

Frequently Asked Technical Questions

Answers to common structural, logistical, and maintenance questions from field coordinators.

Are power tools or electrical generators required during assembly?
No. The entire Finselfer structural frame utilizes spring-loaded push-pin fasteners and snap-lock brackets. The few required bolt attachments use standard manual hand wrenches included in the flat-pack tool kit. Zero generators or power drills are necessary.
How many persons are required to erect a shelter, and how long does it take?
A standard crew of 4 persons can completely assemble and anchor a standard 17.5 m² unit in under 4 hours. With experienced community teams, assembly times regularly drop to approximately 2.5 to 3 hours.
How do the shelters perform in freezing winter environments?
We provide an optional Winterization Upgrade Kit comprising thermal high-density PE floor underlay, double-skin insulated roof blankets, and flue pipe chimney ceiling penetrations compatible with standard humanitarian diesel/wood stove heaters.
Can shelters be disassembled and relocated if camps are shifted?
Yes. The structure is 100% demountable without material destruction. A 4-person team can dismantle, clean, and re-bundle a unit back into manageable packages within 90 minutes.
What is the expected warranty and operational field lifespan?
The galvanized steel frame has an engineered lifespan exceeding 10 years. The UV-stabilized polyolefin cladding panels are certified for a minimum of 3 to 5 years in high-radiation tropical sunlight before degradation.
